On The Map

This week, we are going vegan! This week’s post is a little different. In honor of Black History Month, I will put you on to some black-owned vegan restaurants in Atlanta. So, this week has no comparisons; it is just a list of some delicious spots to try in the city. These restaurants were picked because they are located inside the perimeter of Atlanta. I’ve enjoyed some of these spots, while others are top-rated on Google. While creating this map, I realized most of these restaurants are located on Atlanta’s west or east sides, with a rich black history. The west side of Atlanta is significant because of the historically black colleges and universities such as Morehouse, Spelman, and Clark Atlanta. While the east side of Atlanta is known as the hub of the Civil Rights Movement, MLK Jr.’s home is located on Auburn Ave. These restaurants provide unique and healthy foods for the community. Restauranteur Pinky Cole, the owner of Slutty Vegan and Bar Vegan, has become a titan in the Atlanta vegan restaurant scene. With three restaurants in the city, she has become a popular name. I’ve had the pleasure of eating at both restaurants and fully enjoyed the experience. I recently went to Purely Plant off Moreland Ave. Their take on birria tacos was delicious; I couldn’t tell the difference. While the restaurant is fairly new, it has made an impact on the Eastside community. While I haven’t had the opportunity to try, the other restaurants pinned on the map have amazing reviews either by word of mouth or by online review. Try these restaurants for a healthier take on some of your favorite foods.
